Jackson’s fire protection rating moves to Class 4

City of Jackson officials said the city’s Public Protection Classification rating changed from Class 3 to Class 4, WJTV reported.

Officials said the adjustment was based on a range of factors evaluated during the routine assessment process. That included fire department capabilities, emergency response infrastructure and water system performance, they said, according to WJTV.

WJTV first reported the change and attributed the information to Jackson leaders, who outlined the elements reviewed during the assessment.
