Mississippi child is first pediatric flu death in state since 2018
The State of Mississippi reported it’s first pediatric flu death since 2018 on Tuesday via a press release from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
Along with its first case of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, Mississippi is also reporting its first pediatric flu death of 2020.
The child was from central Mississippi and tested negative for COVID-19. Mississippi has not had a pediatric flu death since 2018.
While COVID-19 has been the main point of focus for the past several months, it’s important to remember the flu can become very serious as well.
It’s important for children 6 months and older to receive their flu shot yearly.
