Mississippi State Rep. Price Wallace dies at 60
Mississippi State Rep. Price Wallace has died at age 60, House Speaker Jason White announced Wednesday evening.
Wallace served in the House since 2018, representing Rankin and Simpson counties in District 77. White described him as a friend and colleague and highlighted his leadership as chairman of the House Constitution Committee.
Wallace led efforts to restore the ballot initiative process, which the House passed multiple times after it was ruled unconstitutional in 2021, White said. He was a strong supporter of restoring Mississippians’ constitutional rights to influence state policy.
In addition to his legislative work, Wallace served on several House committees, including Agriculture, Apportionment and Elections, Conservation and Water Resources, Public Property, Transportation, Ways and Means, and Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. He was also a poultry farmer and an advocate for Mississippi agriculture.
White called Wallace a proud Republican who was proud of his children and enjoyed his role as a grandfather. Condolences poured in from colleagues and community members, with many emphasizing his dedication and legacy.
Brad White, executive director of MDOT, said Wallace was more than a representative—he was family and left a lasting impact. State Rep. Jimmy Fondren described him as a kind soul who loved Mississippi, while Rep. Jansen Owen called him a dedicated public servant and good friend. Wallace’s family, including his wife Cindy, was also remembered in tributes.
The cause of death has not been disclosed. Wallace’s passing has prompted prayers and expressions of grief across the state, reflecting his influence and service in Mississippi politics.
