National and state figures endorse Hyde-Smith and Colom in Mississippi Senate race
National and state political figures have publicly endorsed Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democratic challenger Scott Colom in Mississippi’s 2026 U.S. Senate race, SuperTalk Mississippi reported Oct. 22, 2026.
SuperTalk Mississippi said former President Donald Trump endorsed Hyde-Smith in March 2025 and has campaigned for her in prior federal elections; the report said Trump was expected to rally for Hyde-Smith in Corinth on Monday, Oct. 26. The outlet also reported that Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins accompanied Hyde-Smith when the senator launched her re-election bid in August 2025.
On the Democratic side, SuperTalk Mississippi reported Vice President Kamala Harris planned a “high-energy rally” for Colom in Columbus on Thursday, Oct. 22, and that former President Barack Obama produced a television commercial urging voters to send Colom to the Senate, saying, “Mississippi, it’s time for a change, and that’s why you need to send Scott Colom to the Senate.” The report said former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg planned visits across the Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday, Oct. 27, to campaign for Colom.
The report listed sitting U.S. senators who have supported the campaigns. For Hyde-Smith, SuperTalk Mississippi noted fundraising support from Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana in April and from Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota in September, and a social media video backing from Sen. Katie Britt of Alabama a week before the primary. For Colom, the outlet cited on-the-ground appearances by Sens. Raphael Warnock of Georgia and Cory Booker of New Jersey, and endorsements from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and Sens. Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland and Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware.
At the state level, SuperTalk Mississippi reported that most state elected officials have backed candidates along party lines, and that with no Democrats holding statewide office, the state’s executive leadership is supporting Hyde-Smith. The report said Republican U.S. Reps. Trent Kelly, Michael Guest and Mike Ezell support Hyde-Smith, while Democratic U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson supports Colom.
SuperTalk Mississippi also noted that Republican Sen. Roger Wicker, who supported Colom’s 2022 nomination for a federal judgeship, is supporting Hyde-Smith in the 2026 race. The outlet reported that Colom, a Lowndes County district attorney, had been chosen by President Joe Biden for a U.S. District Court nomination for the Northern District of Mississippi before that promotion was blocked by Hyde-Smith.
The report said independent candidate Ty Pinkins has not received any major endorsements during the cycle.
