Ole Miss defeated LSU 32-24 in Oxford, Miss., and head coach Pete Golding received a standing ovation at his postgame press conference, Fox News reported.
Fox News said the victory spoiled Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford as LSU’s coach, and that fans displayed signs of disdain during the visit. The outlet reported fences and heightened security around the LSU entrance and said Kiffin was flanked by state troopers as LSU left the field.
The report identified Trinidad Chambliss as the player who sprinted into the end zone late in the fourth quarter to put Ole Miss ahead for good. Fox News described Chambliss as a former Ferris State transfer and called him a key contributor in the game.
Fox News also described Golding’s postgame scene as attended by donors and noted agent Jimmy Sexton and Ole Miss collective CEO Walker Jones were present. The outlet quoted Kiffin after the game saying, “Yea, I’m sure i’ll be criticized for saying that, but I am,” and that the trip and week were “really just a lot of emotions of gratefulness for this place for six years.”
