Ole Miss defeated No. 7 LSU 32-24 in Oxford on Sept. 19, 2026, handing the Rebels a 3-0 start and a 1-0 SEC mark while coach Pete Golding said the victory helped the program move on from Lane Kiffin’s tenure, SuperTalk Mississippi reported.
SuperTalk Mississippi said Vaught-Hemingway Stadium drew a record crowd of 70,003 fans for the game, which featured an F-16 flyover, wristband light shows, fireworks and College GameDay on campus.
The Rebels led 24-7 at halftime. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Traylon Ray had seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown; tight end Caleb Odom caught five passes for 88 yards.
LSU, led by Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt, rallied in the second half. Leavitt was 16 of 27 for 158 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Wisconsin transfer Dilin Jones rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries.
After LSU tied the game in the third quarter, Chambliss led a scoring drive late in the fourth, finishing it with a 14-yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown. Golding opted to go for a two-point conversion; after two LSU offside penalties, Ole Miss running back JT Lindsey scored to make it 32-24 with 6:14 remaining.
LSU threatened late, reaching the Ole Miss 6-yard line on a fourth-and-goal, but defensive end Kam Franklin deflected the pass and Jaylen Braxton intercepted in the end zone to seal the win, SuperTalk Mississippi reported.
The report said Ole Miss could not establish a consistent rushing attack in the game and that running back Kewan Lacy left with an injury in the second half; Golding said X-rays were negative. Defensive additions for Ole Miss included Florida transfer Sharif Denson, who recorded eight tackles in his first game back after missing the first two matchups with an injury, according to the report.
Other statistical notes from SuperTalk Mississippi: Ole Miss improved to 3-0 (1-0 SEC); LSU fell to 2-1 (0-1 SEC). For LSU, tight end Trey’Dez Green had 60 yards on four catches before suffering a late injury. Ole Miss transfer Princewill Umanmielen had one of LSU’s two sacks. Ole Miss’ next game is at Florida on Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. CT; the game will air on ABC and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations, the report said.
