La’Vadda Harris is being held in the Hinds County Detention Center after his arrest on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, on a first-degree arson charge in Edwards, Miss.
According to the Magnolia Tribune (Sept. 14, 2026), which cited the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Harris confessed to deputies at the Edwards Police Department that he intentionally set a mobile home on fire about 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2026, at 109 Mt. Moriah Road in Edwards.
The Tribune reported the home was rented by Harris, was not insured at the time of the fire, and that Harris was about four months behind on rent and had been served an eviction notice two days before the blaze. Harris told deputies he set bed sheets on fire using a lighter and cooking oil because he was upset about the eviction, the report said.
An initial court appearance is pending and no bond had been set at the time of the report.
