PICKENS COUNTY, Miss. — Two people were found dead and a suspect is in custody after an early-morning incident Sunday, July 12, Sheriff Jordan Powell said.
Powell said in a statement that a man and a woman were discovered deceased. He said details about how they died remain limited.
Powell said the person believed responsible is behind bars and that his office is confident there is no ongoing threat to the public. He urged residents to refrain from spreading rumors or assumptions as deputies continue their investigation.
Powell said more information will be released when appropriate and encouraged the community to keep the family and those affected in their prayers. The report was provided by WCBI, which said it will provide updates as the investigation continues.
