12 killed in Missouri skydiving plane crash, sheriff says

A plane crashed in a Missouri field Sunday during a skydiving outing, killing all 12 people on board, authorities said.

Chad Anderson, the sheriff of Bates County, told reporters the plane went down at about 11:30 a.m. CST shortly after departing Butler Memorial Airport.

Officials provided no immediate details about the victims or the cause of the crash, Anderson said.
