Brendan Banfield was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Friday, June 5, according to court records. Prosecutors told the court he orchestrated an elaborate plot to murder his wife, Christine Banfield.
Prosecutors said the scheme included an affair with the family’s au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, and an attempt to lure an unsuspecting man, Joseph Ryan, to the Banfield home to be framed for the crime.
CBS’ “48 Hours” highlighted victim impact statements. “48 Hours” correspondent Anne-Marie Green and producer Michelle Sigona shared what the program described as the most passionate moments from those statements, the program reported.
Banfield maintained his innocence in court, according to court proceedings.
