Brunson’s late free throw lifts Knicks to 2-0 NBA Finals lead over Spurs

Jalen Brunson hit a go-ahead free throw in the closing seconds Friday to lift the New York Knicks to a 105-104 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 and a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals, Fox News reported.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Brunson and Mikal Bridges each scored 20, according to Fox News. The Knicks have won 13 straight, the second-longest streak in NBA playoff history, Fox News said.

San Antonio rallied from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter and took its first lead in nearly two quarters when Victor Wembanyama converted a three-point play with 57 seconds left, Fox News reported. Brunson scored on the next possession, Wembanyama missed a jumper, OG Anunoby grabbed the rebound and San Antonio turned the ball over on the ensuing possession before Brunson was fouled and hit the decisive free throw, Fox News said.

Wembanyama finished with 29 points and De’Aaron Fox had 20 for the Spurs, Fox News reported. The series now shifts to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 at 8:30 p.m. Monday, and the Knicks remain in pursuit of their first championship since 1973, Fox News said. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
