Knicks rally from 29-point deficit to beat Spurs in NBA Finals Game 4
The New York Knicks mounted a historic comeback to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, taking a 3-1 series lead. The Knicks trailed by as many as 29 points before rallying in the second half, fueled by a late-game surge and a clutch play from OG Anunoby.
The game was marked by early foul trouble for Karl-Anthony Towns, who was called for two fouls in the opening 62 seconds. The Spurs capitalized on his absence, opening the game on a 41-20 run and shooting 54% from three-point range in the first half. By halftime, San Antonio led 76-49 and extended its lead to 29 points.
But the Knicks refused to give up. They cut the deficit to 15 points heading into the fourth quarter and battled back in the final minutes. A 13-2 run brought New York within nine, then seven, with 5:15 remaining. The crowd grew louder as the Knicks continued their rally, eventually tying the game at 106 with less than two minutes to play.
After the Spurs regained the lead with 30 seconds remaining, the Knicks responded. With 90 seconds left, Jalen Brunson scored to put New York ahead. The Spurs had a chance to win but failed to get a shot off on the inbound, leading to a chaotic finish.
OG Anunoby’s tip-in off a missed Brunson three-pointer with seconds left secured the victory for the Knicks. Head coach Mike Brown called Anunoby’s play the greatest in Knicks history. The Knicks outscored the Spurs 58-30 in the second half and celebrated a stunning victory at Madison Square Garden, one of the greatest comebacks in NBA Finals history.
