Dallas-Fort Worth Airport to Install Islamic Foot Wash Stations in Restrooms

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport will install Islamic foot wash stations inside bathrooms at the facility, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project was officially registered with Texas regulators on July 31, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The addition includes ablution stations in Terminal D, with one men’s station in an existing men’s restroom and one women’s station in an existing women’s restroom, the project details state. The stations are privately funded, with an estimated cost of around $300,000.

The purpose of the stations is to prevent water from spilling onto restroom floors and to protect sink counters, the documents indicate. Similar facilities are already in place at other major U.S. airports, including Chicago O’Hare, which has installed low-level basins and interfaith spaces for international travelers.

The project has sparked online debate, with some conservatives criticizing the plan. Ryan Fournier, a conservative activist, told Fox News Digital that the stations are not about ideology but about maintaining restroom safety and cleanliness. “People washing their feet in standard bathroom sinks creates soaked, slippery floors and breaks the counters,” he said. “Low-level wudu basins keep the restrooms dry and safe for everyone.”

Fournier added that similar facilities are common at major airports across the country, including Chicago O’Hare and Indianapolis. He emphasized that the goal is simply to keep bathrooms clean and prevent accidents.
