Dingell says she was troubled by Maine Democrat’s decade-old online comments

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., said she was troubled by social media posts that Graham Platner, the leading Democrat in Maine’s Senate race, made more than a decade ago about sexual assault, Dingell said.

Last year, The Washington Post uncovered online comments that Platner posted in 2013, the newspaper reported. The Washington Post said those comments included language that downplayed difficulties service members face.

The Washington Post identified Platner as the leading Democrat in the Maine Senate contest and published the items from the earlier social media postings, the newspaper said.

Dingell’s remarks were first reported in coverage of the resurfaced posts, and she said she found the comments troubling, according to published reports.
