Nebraska Democrat Cindy Burbank Wins Senate Primary, Says She Will Withdraw to Back Independent
Cindy Burbank won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate in Nebraska, according to official primary results, but she said she planned to drop out of the race to help independent Dan Osborn win, her campaign said.
A photo accompanying campaign materials showed Burbank on a recent motorcycle ride, campaign officials said.
Osborn is an independent candidate, and Burbank’s campaign said her decision was intended to improve his chances in the general election.
Burbank’s campaign did not immediately provide a timetable or details for how she would formalize a withdrawal, the campaign said.
