Doctors say Pope Leo XIV needs no further cancer treatment after lung tumor removed Oct. 13
Pope Leo XIV will need no further treatment for lung cancer after final tests confirmed the disease was localized, his doctors said Wednesday.
Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said the tumor removed Oct. 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that a subsequent cancer assessment confirmed “no further treatment is necessary,” the doctors said.
The findings followed testing of the removed tumor and an additional assessment of the pope’s need for further care, the doctors said.
This is a developing story.
