Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of accused Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy, has remarried and relocated to New York City while testifying in his ex-wife’s murder trial, according to media reports and court filings. Lindsay Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children, who were found strangled at the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023, prosecutors say.
According to the New York Post, Patrick Clancy, described as a business applications sales executive at Microsoft, moved to New York in spring 2023, filed for divorce in February 2024 and married Dr. Rachel Danis in a Central Park ceremony in spring 2026. The New York Post also reported that Danis moved into Clancy’s Upper East Side apartment in 2025, and TMZ reported the couple was seen together at a Manhattan apartment in August.
Prosecutors concluded their case Monday, and the defense has begun presenting arguments that Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis when the killings occurred, defense attorneys have said in court. Patrick Clancy testified during the trial and described his children to jurors, at times struggling to hold back tears, according to court accounts. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington told the court that Clancy “suffered one of the worst tragedies that anyone could ever suffer” and was trying to move on with his life.
Patrick Clancy and family members founded the Heard Foundation, which its website says was created “in memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy” and aims to change how parents are cared for around perinatal mental illness, the site says. Days after the deaths, Clancy posted on a GoFundMe page asking for forgiveness for his ex-wife and describing her as “generously loving and caring,” the fundraising page shows.
Defense testimony has included statements from a chaplain who visited Lindsay Clancy days after the children’s deaths. Sheila Cavanaugh, a board-certified chaplain at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, testified that on Jan. 31, 2023, Lindsay Clancy said, “I am so glad my children are safe,” and that they prayed together, court records show. The judge ended court early Thursday after one witness, sending jurors home until Friday, according to the court calendar. Legal commentators interviewed by media outlets have noted the presence of Patrick Clancy’s mother, Susan Clancy, as a defense witness and described her courtroom demeanor, citing interviews with defense supporters and media reports.
