Gina Carano says Disney went quiet after settlement as she readies for Rousey fight

Gina Carano said Disney went quiet after she reached a legal settlement with the company and that she is preparing for a high-profile MMA return against Ronda Rousey on May 16, she told Evie Magazine.

Carano, a former star of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” said the past few years reshaped how she views media and public discourse. “Back then it was called conspiracy theories,” she told Evie Magazine, adding that questions she raised then now appear validated.

Carano said coverage largely faded after she settled her lawsuit with Disney in August 2025. “Nobody covers this,” she said she told a reporter from The Hollywood Reporter, arguing the contrast between Disney’s statement at the time of her firing and its statement at the settlement was striking.

She said she had no personal issues with “The Mandalorian” creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. “I never had a problem with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. I thought they were always wonderful,” she told Evie Magazine, adding she respected them and believed they respected her.

Carano said she also used the time away from Hollywood for a physical reset and to prepare for a return to fighting. She discussed body image, femininity in MMA and said she feels she is “blooming now,” according to the interview in Evie Magazine.
