Ian McKellen says he yelled ‘Mar-a-Lago’ during ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ filming
Sir Ian McKellen said Sunday that he yelled out “Mar-a-Lago” while filming scenes of destruction for the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.”
The British actor, known for his role as Magneto in the “X-Men” franchise, spoke with The Guardian about his experience shooting the movie. He described a scene in which he was involved in destruction sequences alongside actors Anthony and others.
McKellen did not specify whether the shouted phrase was intended as a political statement or simply a humorous remark during filming. The film is set to be released later this year, and McKellen’s role as Magneto remains a central part of the story.
Representatives for Marvel did not immediately respond to requests for comment. McKellen’s comments drew attention for their humorous reference to a high-profile Florida resort frequented by former President Donald Trump.
