ICE arrests former Mexican TV host Ines Gomez Mont in Miami; held in Broward detention amid Mexico extradition request
Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested former Mexican television host Ines Gomez Mont in Miami in October 2026, and she is being held at the Broward Transitional Center while U.S. immigration proceedings and a Mexican extradition request move forward.
Fox News reported that ICE picked her up in Miami in October 2026 on an immigration violation and that she remains detained at the Broward facility.
According to the Fox News report, Mexican prosecutors obtained arrest warrants for Gomez Mont and her husband, attorney Victor Manuel Alvarez Puga, in 2021 in connection with an alleged sprawling shell-company network tied to government contracts worth roughly $160 million. The allegations cited by Fox include organized crime, money laundering and tax fraud.
Fox News said the couple left Mexico after the warrants were issued and were later tracked to South Florida. Mexican authorities requested Gomez Mont’s provisional detention for extradition in late 2025 and prepared a formal extradition request with the U.S. Department of Justice, the report said.
Fox reported that Alvarez Puga was arrested earlier by ICE on immigration violations before posting bail; his current location has been kept private, the outlet said.
The outlet reported Gomez Mont’s legal team has filed a sealed habeas petition in U.S. court. A federal judge denied her emergency request to block a transfer out of South Florida but ordered the government to explain why her petition should not be granted, Fox said.
Fox News noted as background that Gomez Mont gained international attention during Super Bowl XLII week in 2008 after appearing at Media Day in a wedding dress and proposing to then-New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Fox News described the situation as leaving Gomez Mont facing two parallel tracks: ongoing U.S. immigration detention and Mexico’s extradition request.
