ICE: Salvadoran detainee dies after ‘medical emergency’ at Newark detention center

A 41-year-old Salvadoran detainee died after a “medical emergency” at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, New Jersey, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement obtained by NewsNation.

ICE identified the man as Edwin Lopez-Cornejo and said he “was pronounced deceased,” the agency said in the statement obtained by The Hill’s sister network NewsNation.

Multiple officials confirmed the death, according to NewsNation. ICE provided the identification and the declaration of death in its statement.
