Justice Department withdraws subpoenas for New York Times journalists
The Justice Department withdrew subpoenas seeking grand jury testimony and phone records from New York Times journalists, New York Times attorney David McGraw said Thursday.
The subpoenas had demanded testimony before a grand jury and journalists’ phone records, McGraw said.
The withdrawal came after a federal judge sharply questioned government lawyers during a Thursday hearing, McGraw said.
McGraw said the government agreed to withdraw the subpoenas following the judge’s questioning.
