Long Island Rail Road workers strike after contract talks stall
Long Island Rail Road workers went on strike after negotiators failed to reach a deal on a proposed four-year contract, union leaders said.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and union negotiators had agreed on terms for the first three years, but disputes arose over the contract’s final year, the MTA and the unions said.
Union leaders did not immediately provide further details about the disputed provisions or how long the strike might last.
The MTA did not immediately provide additional comment on the negotiations or the walkout.
