Man dead, another in critical condition after double stabbing in Brooklyn park, NYPD says

A 21-year-old man was killed and a 30-year-old man was critically injured in a double stabbing Saturday at Dyker Beach Park in Brooklyn, the New York Police Department said.

The NYPD said officers responded to a 911 call just before 2 p.m. reporting two men had been stabbed near 86th Street and 14th Avenue in the 68th Precinct. When officers arrived, both victims had stab wounds, the department said.

Emergency Medical Services took both men to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, and the 21-year-old was later pronounced dead, the NYPD said. The department said it was withholding the deceased man’s identity pending family notification.

The NYPD said a person of interest was taken into custody, but officials have not released that person’s identity. Authorities gave no motive and said the investigation remains ongoing.
