28-year-old woman critically injured after stabbing while jogging along Brooklyn waterfront
A 28-year-old woman was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times in the neck while jogging along the Shore Parkway Greenway near Bay 17th Street in Brooklyn’s Bath Beach neighborhood Friday night, New York City police confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Fox News Digital reported Nov. 1, 2026, that the attack occurred around 8 p.m. and that emergency medical personnel transported the woman to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in critical condition, according to the New York Police Department.
An NYPD spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Saturday the woman remained alive. Police have not released her identity and investigators have not identified a suspect, the spokesperson said.
The New York Post, citing police sources, reported the woman had been training for Sunday’s New York City Marathon. In a statement to Fox News Digital, New York Road Runners (NYRR) said, “We were sad to hear of this horrible attack—our hearts are with her family and the running community,” and that its records show the woman had previously participated in NYRR races but it could not confirm whether she planned to run on Sunday.
The Post described the section of waterfront path as overlooking Gravesend Bay with views of Staten Island and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Police are asking the public for help as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip through the department’s Crime Stoppers website. All tips are confidential, the source said.
