Minor league coach Oswaldo Pirela released from ICE custody

Oswaldo Pirela, a minor league baseball coach, was released on bond Monday from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, the San Diego Padres said.

He was arrested by immigration authorities last week, the Padres said.

The team said in a statement, “We are pleased that Oswaldo Pirela has been released on bond and reunited with his family. Out of respect for his privacy and the ongoing matter, we will have no further…”

The Padres did not provide additional details about the arrest, the bond amount or any potential legal proceedings, according to the team.
