Nondisclosure agreements covered negotiations between a tech company and several local and state officials, surprising local residents, NPR reported.
The agreements limited public visibility into the talks, NPR said, and the use of NDAs in data center negotiations has been used around the country.
The secrecy drew notice from residents in the affected communities, NPR reported, who said they were surprised by the closed-door approach.
NPR reported that similar nondisclosure measures have been employed in other data center deals nationwide, raising questions about transparency in local and state negotiations.
