State Republicans named state Rep. Jennifer Balkcom the GOP nominee for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, the state Republican Party’s 11th District executive committee said.
The committee said it selected Balkcom after Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., dropped out of the race last week.
The selection came 85 days before Election Day, the committee said.
Members of the 11th District executive committee made the choice to fill the vacancy on the ballot, the committee said.
