GOP nominee for Texas House apologizes for past ‘crude’ online posts

Jorge Borrego, the GOP nominee for a Texas House seat, apologized Wednesday for past online posts that he called “crude and immature jokes,” he wrote.

He initially laughed the posts off earlier this week, but in his written statement he said, “In no ways do those past posts represent my current sentiments and feelings,” Borrego wrote.

Borrego added that the posts stemmed from his childhood “in an environment where…,” according to the statement.

The statement did not provide additional details about the posts or when they were made, and contained no further comment on the matter.
