North Korea said it will deploy new long-range artillery systems capable of striking the Seoul area this year, the state news agency Korean Central News Agency reported.
The agency said the weapons will be positioned to target the capital region of South Korea and that the deployment would take place this year.
KCNA also reported that the country plans to commission its first naval destroyer in the coming weeks.
The statements were carried by the state news agency and represent official North Korean announcements, according to KCNA.
