Paul Pelosi, 86, was charged Friday with a misdemeanor hit-and-run, weeks after authorities say he struck an unoccupied parked car and left the scene.
The charge was filed under a California law that requires drivers involved in collisions resulting in property damage to stop and provide required information, authorities said.
Pelosi is the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the authorities said.
Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the incident or any scheduled court appearance, according to the announcement.
