Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, said Sunday that recent discussions about White House aide Natalie Harp have been “super misogynistic,” according to Moreno.
Democrats and former White House staffers have said Harp’s relationship with President Donald Trump was inappropriate, citing reporting by The Daily Beast that published letters in which she professed her allegiance to the president.
Moreno’s comment highlighted a sharp divide over the reporting and the public reaction to it. He said the tone of the discourse, as he described it, reflected gendered attacks.
The Daily Beast story and reactions from Democrats and former staffers have prompted debate about the conduct and boundaries of White House relationships, while Moreno criticized how those conversations have been framed, according to his remarks.
