Stefon Diggs says he’s the NFL’s top No. 2 receiver as he seeks a new team
Stefon Diggs remains a free agent and said this week that no team has a better No. 2 receiver, speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Fox News Digital reported.
“Everybody got a 1,” Diggs said in the video, adding that while teams may name several top receivers, “you can’t name a No. 2 better than me.” He asked listeners to compare salaries and ability when considering who ranks behind a team’s top option, Fox News Digital reported.
Diggs had 1,013 yards in his 11th season on 85 receptions and four touchdowns on 102 targets from quarterback Drake Maye, which Fox News Digital said marked his seventh 1,000-yard season in eight years.
Diggs faced criminal charges in December but was found not guilty by a jury, and the NFL closed its review, saying there was insufficient evidence to warrant a suspension for violating its personal-conduct policy, Fox News Digital reported. Mitch Schuster of the law firm Meister, Seelig & Schuster, which represented Diggs, said in a statement to Fox News Digital that “professional athletes have a target on their back.”
The New England Patriots released Diggs in March, and he has been staying in shape while seeking a new opportunity, Fox News Digital reported. The outlet listed teams to watch as possible destinations, including the Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, Kansas City Chiefs and a potential reunion with the Buffalo Bills.
