Jonquel Jones named MVP as Team Spoon edges Team Coop 129-122 before record crowd

Jonquel Jones finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists and was named the game’s most valuable player as Caitlin Clark’s Team Spoon beat Marina Mabrey’s Team Coop 129-122 on Saturday, the WNBA said.

The All-Star Game drew a record crowd of 19,783 at the United Center, according to the league. The game returned to Chicago for the first time since 2022 as part of the WNBA’s 30th season celebration, the WNBA said.

Eight Team Spoon players scored in double figures in a defense-light affair that featured 127 3-point attempts, the WNBA said. Allisha Gray added 19 points and Clark finished with 17, according to the league.

In the second quarter, Dominique Malonga caught a pass from Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese and dunked. The Seattle Storm said the 6-foot-6 center became the seventh player in league history to record a dunk in an All-Star Game, and the WNBA said the 20-year-old is the youngest player to do so in the event.

Friday’s 3-point contest and Shooting Stars competition were held at the smaller Wintrust Arena, the WNBA said.
