Texas to seek federal reimbursement for border expenses, Abbott says

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, said Monday that the state will seek federal reimbursement for border security measures taken during the Biden administration, Abbott said.

“The Trump administration has now opened up the window for us to be able to file for reimbursement of the expenses that we incurred, and we’re seeking…” Abbott said.

Abbott said the Trump administration opened a process that allows the state to file for reimbursement of expenses it incurred while carrying out border measures during the Biden administration.

He did not provide details on the amount Texas plans to seek or the timeline and procedures for filing claims.
