Connecticut man dies after fall from Madison Square Garden balcony during concert

Paul Kueker, 51, of Connecticut was taken to Bellevue Hospital and pronounced dead after falling from a balcony at Madison Square Garden during Saturday’s Goose concert, police and news reports said.

Video captured Kueker falling head-first from a balcony in the 300s section and landing on other concertgoers, the New York Post reported. Law-enforcement sources told the Post, citing witnesses, that Kueker appeared to be “intoxicated” and “under the influence” before going over a 4-foot glass barrier shortly before 10 p.m.

Police said the man was unconscious and unresponsive after hitting the ground. Several people he landed on suffered minor injuries, other sources told the Post. Kueker, a father of two, was reportedly celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife, who was seated three sections away and was not immediately aware of what had happened, the Post reported.

New York City’s medical examiner’s office said Monday the cause of death remains under investigation and that a toxicology report is being conducted. Madison Square Garden issued a statement to Fox News Digital saying it was “deeply saddened by the loss of a fan’s life at Madison Square Garden” and that its “hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer.” The band Goose also released a statement extending condolences and thanking emergency personnel and venue staff.

A GoFundMe page created by Kueker’s daughter described him as “a loving father, family man, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter wherever he went,” and said the family was struggling to process the loss while facing expenses related to his burial.
