Trump endorses candidates in six states ahead of Tuesday primaries
Former President Donald Trump has endorsed numerous candidates across six states ahead of Tuesday’s primary elections, including races for governor, Congress, and the Senate. The endorsements cover California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota, according to statements from Trump and his social media posts.
In Iowa, Trump backed U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra in his bid to become the state’s next governor. Trump praised Feenstra on Truth Social, saying he would fight to grow the economy, cut taxes and regulations, promote American energy, support farmers and ranchers, and strengthen law enforcement and the military.
In California, Trump endorsed Steve Hilton in the gubernatorial race. Trump criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, accusing him of mismanaging the state. Trump called Newsom’s policies a failure and expressed confidence that Hilton could turn California around. Trump also endorsed California Assemblyman James Gallagher, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, and several other local and congressional candidates.
Additional endorsements in California included Reps. Tom McClintock, Jay Obernolte, and Vince Fong, as well as former Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln. Trump also endorsed Rep. Ashley Hinson of Iowa in her U.S. Senate bid and other congressional candidates in New Jersey, Montana, and South Dakota.
Among the other endorsed candidates are Montana congressional candidate Aaron Flint, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, and Greg Cunningham, a former police officer from New Mexico. Trump previously endorsed South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds. The endorsements come as Trump continues to influence upcoming Republican primaries, following previous victories he touted earlier this year.
