U.S. Embassy warns of credible mass-casualty threat at Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert on October 31 warning of a credible threat of a “mass casualty event” at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, located at Dolskaya Ulitsa 1, Moscow, Russia 11569.
The embassy said the U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response and urged people to avoid the Tsaritsyno area, “stay alert, and avoid crowds.”
The alert also advised people in the Moscow area to keep cell phones and other batteries charged, stay aware of their surroundings and review a personal security plan, the embassy said.
Founded in 1775 as a summer home for Russia’s Catherine II, the Tsaritsyno Museum is a popular tourist attraction in Moscow. The museum drew more than two million visitors in 2022, Moscow Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina said in 2023. The surrounding grounds, used by residents for walking and recreation, see additional foot traffic, The Art Newspaper reported.
Fox News Digital reported the alert was issued amid rising tensions in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, noting that Ukraine struck an oil refinery in southern Russia on Friday and that Russian drone and missile strikes in Ukraine the previous day killed at least 27 civilians, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Fox News Digital said it contacted the U.S. Embassy in Moscow for further information. This is a developing story, the Fox News report said.
