Vance says U.S., Iran ‘very close’ to deal but gaps remain

Vice President Vance said Thursday that the United States was “very close” to finalizing an agreement with Iran, but a few sticking points remained, he said.

Vance told reporters that negotiators were still “going back and forth” on what he described as “nuclear stuff,” and that a small number of unresolved issues had delayed a final deal.

He said the two sides had reached a tentative deal that would extend the already-fragile cease-fire for 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and launch further talks on outstanding issues, according to Vance.
