Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed on Monday rejected a characterization by Vice President Vance that he is “very, very evil,” saying “What’s evil is corrupting yourself,” El-Sayed said.
Vice President Vance earlier Monday at a rally in Detroit described El-Sayed as “very, very evil and on the rise in the United States…,” Vance said, according to remarks at the event.
El-Sayed responded to the vice president’s comments on Monday, calling attention to what he described as corruption rather than his campaign or views, El-Sayed said.
The exchange highlights the sharp rhetoric between the parties as Vance targeted El-Sayed at a Detroit rally and El-Sayed publicly rebuked the vice president’s language, campaign officials and event remarks show.
