The WNBA rescinded a technical foul assessed to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark during Saturday’s win over the Chicago Sky, a league spokesman told The Associated Press. The change removed what had been ruled her eighth technical of the season and would have triggered an automatic one-game suspension.
The technical was rescinded a few hours after the game ended, the WNBA spokesman told The Associated Press. Had the technical stood, Clark would have been required to miss Tuesday’s game against the New York Liberty under league rules governing technical fouls.
In the third quarter, Clark was called for a technical after making contact with a referee when she was forced out of bounds, according to game officials. Clark said after the game the contact was accidental and that there was no verbal confrontation.
“She said I ran into her,” Clark said. “I have already watched it on the tape. So, we’ll let the league decide. But, it wasn’t anything intentional or anything. So, I hope it gets rescinded. And, nothing was said.” The Fever won the game 90-86.
