Zelensky Calls for Face-to-Face Meeting with Putin Amid U.S. Focus on Iran

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking for a face-to-face meeting. Zelensky made the request amid ongoing tensions and conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

In the letter, Zelensky pointed out that he has spent nearly half of Putin’s 26 years in power involved in the war against Ukraine. He emphasized the toll the conflict has taken on Ukraine and called for direct talks to resolve the crisis.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials have stated that the United States remains fully focused on issues related to Iran, including its nuclear program and regional activities. The Biden administration has not indicated whether a meeting between Zelensky and Putin is likely to happen soon.

Russia has not publicly responded to Zelensky’s request. The situation remains tense as both sides continue to navigate their respective diplomatic and military challenges.
