Middleton Restaurants Post High Scores in September Inspections

Restaurants and school cafeterias in Middleton and the rest of Hardeman County earned high marks in September, according to restaurant inspection scores from the Tennessee Department of Health compiled by the Hatchie Press. All three Middleton establishments on the list scored 98 or better, and no place in the county scored below 95.

Middleton Restaurant Inspection Scores

Three Middleton food businesses were inspected during routine visits in mid-September:

  • Elevate Nutrition, 118 E. Tennessee St.: 100 (Sept. 16)
  • Middleton Elementary Cafeteria, 180 Robin Circle: 99 (Sept. 18)
  • Buddy’s BBQ (mobile unit), 70 Pinecrest Lane: 98 (Sept. 18)

  • The Lake House, 3400 Grand Valley Drive, Saulsbury: 96 on a follow-up inspection Sept. 11

Bolivar, Whiteville and Toone Results

Elsewhere in the county, scores ranged from 95 to 99:

  • Bright Beginning Child Care, Bolivar: 99 (routine, Sept. 14)
  • Whiteville Elementary Cafeteria: 99 (follow-up, Sept. 14)
  • Bolivar Middle School Cafeteria: 98 (routine, Sept. 2)

  • Country Cafe, Whiteville: 95 (follow-up, Sept. 9)
  • Wilson Family Cafe, Toone: 95 (follow-up, Sept. 3)

The two lowest scores on the list, both 95, came on follow-up inspections, which take place after an earlier visit.

How to Check Inspection Reports

Tennessee scores food service establishments on a 100-point scale, with points taken off for violations found during a visit. The individual reports for each establishment on the September list are linked from the Hatchie Press listing and are hosted on the state’s online inspection portal, which shows the specific items an inspector noted.

For Tippah County readers who regularly cross into Middleton or Grand Junction to eat, the September results are a good sign. School cafeterias in both towns were among the top scores in the county.

Keep in mind that an inspection score is a snapshot of conditions on the day the inspector visited. A restaurant’s score can change from one visit to the next, so diners who want the most current picture should look up the latest report before they go. The Hatchie Press publishes a new round of Hardeman County inspection scores each month, and Tippah News will share notable results from Middleton and the towns near the state line.
