Tippah county basketball tips off for 2022-2023 season

Basketball season kicked off recently, with every squad in the county having played in jamboree and all except Falkner boys having played a regular season game.

Several storylines are in play, with Pine Grove looking to defend their state title and Walnut’s MK Vuncannon having a chance to break the modern career scoring mark this year.

Some early season results:

Walnut boys and girls defeat Myrtle on Tuesday.

Blue Mountain girls get a win over a very talented New Site team 55-48.

Falkner girls picked up a win over Myrtle 34-28. Mallie Mitchell and Shae Strickland each had 7 to lead in scoring.. LeLe Strickland and Macari Chatman added 6.

Ripley defeats IAHS in girls and boys action.

Pine Grove boys pick up a season opening win over Mooreville.
