Tippah County sports roundup, Oct. 11, 2026: Walnut takes winning streak into North State; BMCU falls

Walnut will put a 12-match volleyball winning streak on the line against unbeaten East Union in the North State final Monday, Oct. 12. The Lady Wildcats travel to East Union High School in Blue Springs for a 6 p.m. match with a state championship berth at stake.

BMCU loses at Life

Blue Mountain Christian University lost 3–1 to Life University in Marietta, Georgia, Saturday afternoon to finish its weekend volleyball trip. The Toppers had played Point University Friday in Southern States Athletic Conference action, according to Myers’ report on TippahSports.com.

Race postponed; golf and regionals ahead

Walnut Fire & Rescue postponed the Firehouse 5K to Oct. 17 at 8:30 a.m. because of forecast heavy rain, TippahSports.com reported. The community race had appeared on Walnut’s cross-country calendar for Saturday, Oct. 10.

Falkner’s boys golfers have a division match in Booneville Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m. The girls’ state tournament trip to Brookhaven is listed for Oct. 19–20, with tee times unposted.

Blue Mountain’s next listed varsity cross-country meet is its regional at Blue Mountain College Oct. 20, with girls racing at 4 p.m. and boys at 4:35. The Oct. 22 regional at New Albany’s BNA Park/Tallahatchie Trails lists Ripley’s girls at 10 a.m. and boys at 10:30, followed by Walnut and Falkner’s girls at 11 and boys at 11:30.
