Charges upgraded in case of man accused of hitting, killing child getting on bus

Charges have been upgraded in the case of the man accused of hitting and killing a Prentiss county student getting on the school bus last month, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

22 year old Hunter Newman of Marietta was charged in Lee County and subsequently given a $10,000 bond with a charge of aggravated assault. 

Those charges have been upgraded to negligent manslaughter.

The child, Dalen Thomas, was a 9 year old Baldwyn Student.
