Mississippi issues wildland fire alert requesting no outdoor burning in state
The Mississippi Forestry Commission has issued a statewide wildland fire alert effective October 1st. They are requesting no outdoor burning anywhere in the state.
30 counties statewide have countywide burn bans, including several total burn bans until further notice.
This come as much of Mississippi faced the driest and hottest September on record.
The state expects more countywide burn bans to come in affect over the coming weeks.
