North Mississippi police warning of phone scam

Police in North Mississippi issued a warning today about a new scam going around involving unknown callers. These callers are claiming to be the Social Security office located in Corinth, MS.

According to the Corinth PD:

“We have had reports of a new scam in the area. We have had citizens receiving phone calls from a foreign speaking individual using local numbers. They are claiming to be the Social Security Office and asking if a new social security card or number has been received. Please do not give out any personal information and hang up as soon as you know that it is a scam. The Social Security office will never contact you by phone.”
