Ripley Movie Night Shows Hocus Pocus Tonight at The Cut-Off

Downtown Ripley is hosting a free outdoor Ripley movie night tonight, Saturday, Oct. 17, when The Cut-Off at 204 S. Commerce Street shows the Halloween favorite Hocus Pocus under the stars beginning at 7 p.m. Ripley Main Street announced the screening Saturday and asked families to bring blankets and lawn chairs for an evening on the square.

The showing is sponsored by West Glass Co., according to Ripley Main Street, which thanked the business for making the night possible. It is one of several things happening downtown today, as the organization encouraged residents to shop local and “make a day of it.”

Ripley Movie Night Details

Here is what to know before heading downtown, based on the Ripley Main Street announcement and event flyer:

  • What: Movie Night at The Cut-Off featuring Hocus Pocus
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026; the movie starts at 7 p.m.
  • Where: The Cut-Off, 204 S. Commerce Street, downtown Ripley
  • Bring: Blankets and lawn chairs
  • Sponsor: West Glass Co.

The 1993 Disney comedy follows three witch sisters who are accidentally brought back to life in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night, and it has become a seasonal staple for families. Ripley Main Street did not list an admission charge in its post.

Bundle Up: A Chilly Night on the Square

Moviegoers will want those blankets. The National Weather Service in Memphis forecasts clear skies in Ripley tonight with a low around 40 degrees and a light northeast wind of 5 to 10 mph, after gusty winds earlier Saturday settle down around sunset. Forecasters say it will be one of the coolest nights of the season so far, so a jacket and a warm drink are a good idea for anyone staying through the end of the film.

Sunday looks sunny with a high near 72, and dry weather is expected to continue into next week.

Also Downtown Today: Sew What? Pop-Up at Millie & Co.

Ripley Main Street also pointed shoppers to a pop-up from Sew What? at Millie & Co., which is offering handmade goods today. Millie & Co. operates at The Cut-Off, the outdoor gathering space on South Commerce Street that has become a regular venue for downtown events.

More Fall Events Coming to The Cut-Off

Tonight’s movie is part of a busy fall stretch for downtown Ripley. The Cut-Off will also host the Spirit of Ripley pet costume contest on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m., during the Spirit of Ripley Festival and Chili Cookoff. Residents can follow Ripley Main Street on Facebook for updates on upcoming events and downtown happenings.
