Tippah County roundup, Oct. 2, 2026: New shop opens on Ripley square; movie night and volleyball honors announced
RIPLEY — Silly Sisters has opened at 118 N. Commerce St. on Ripley’s historic square, adding a storefront in the former Southern Sentinel building. Ripley Main Street welcomed the boutique Thursday, Oct. 1, according to Tippah News’ report.
Today’s Tippah County roundup also covers a newly announced free movie night downtown and recognition for players in the county volleyball tournament.

Silly Sisters opens on the square
The shop occupies the former newspaper office beside Tower Loan. The business lists fall hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Ripley Main Street shared a photograph of the storefront with its pink sign, seasonal displays and fall decorations.

Free Hocus Pocus screening set for Oct. 17
Ripley Main Street announced a free outdoor screening of Hocus Pocus for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at The Cut-Off, 204 S. Commerce St. West Glass Company is sponsoring the event, which is open to everyone.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring chairs or blankets; costumes are welcome. Families should check the organizer’s announcement for updates before attending. Read the movie-night announcement.
County volleyball players receive tournament honors
Walnut’s Molly-Kate Rolison was named tournament MVP, teammate Maddie Wilburn earned Offensive MVP and Pine Grove’s Ainsley Wilkerson received Defensive MVP in the all-tournament selections reported Friday. Tippah County Sports released the honors following the Sept. 26 tournament at Pine Grove, which Walnut won for the second consecutive year.
The 10-player all-tournament team also includes Walnut’s Vivian Brown; Pine Grove’s Kailey Butler and Lynlee Hill; Falkner’s Ella Mauney and Kady Duncan; and Ripley’s Ruthie McCafferty and Maggie McCafferty, alongside the three individual award winners.
